What If…?

What if, out of the 8.142 billion people on earth, each one of those individuals picked up a single piece of trash every day for the rest of their lives? What if, instead of waking up to be mesmerized and hypnotized by our electronic devices, we took our first few breaths of a new day, Continue reading

Therapeutic is the Music

Back in 2020 I picked up my first guitar and made a solemn promise to myself from that day forward I would continue down a path of learning with that musical instrument. Nothing was special about this specific guitar. It was dingy, the quality of sound was very poor and the strings were in pretty Continue reading

Where Do We Go From Here?

Where do we go from here, now that you are no longer near? How can we possibly manage to grab the wheel and steer, now that you are no longer near? How can we possibly overcome this daunting fear, now that you are no longer near? Who is it that we’ll look to to give Continue reading

To Nourish The Soul

What is it that brings you to life? Is there a certain activity unto which you draw energy upon? Or maybe it’s a certain person or even a group of people who light a flame into your spirit. I don’t just mean these as tools to excite you, I mean how do they move you? Continue reading

I got pissed on by a turtle, but that’s what made the day great.

I once had a professor whilst in my time studying at Muskegon Community College who used to coin the phrase “knowledge is power!” She was one of the toughest woman I’ve ever met with a zero bullshit authority within the classroom, a real brute upon first introductions. I always gaffed at the remark, thinking to Continue reading

The Return

“What was your favorite part about it man?” I’ve been back from the trail for a total of three months and fourteen days. In my time of trying to nestle back into a normalized reality of civilization, I’ve been asked this question a couple of times. Not an easy question to answer even in the Continue reading

Is It Evil?

How much can one stand before they turn evil? To what are the depths of hell that one would give into? The greater question, how does true individual evil appear and how is it measured? Measured by comparison of other historical individuals who committed such egregious crimes that horrify the devil himself? Or is it Continue reading

Out of the Void, Into the Noise

As I sit on the beach of Lake Michigan, I ponder the right way to end this whole journey. Shoving my feet deep into the sandy shores that I’ve been devoid of. I have to admit that I don’t want to write this blog. I have to admit that through all the struggles and hardships Continue reading

Closing the Book

When you flip through the last pages of a book, finishing the literature that has preoccupied your time, what resonates with you? What do you take away from the reading? Is it a life lesson? Is it a long list of quotes that present themselve as a code of ethics? Is it intelligence? Is it Continue reading
About Me
My name is Jacob Rohlman and I entered the blogging world to help record my exploits from the Appalachian Trail. Also, to express a little more freedom with journaling and daily thoughts that might cross my mind. I am an alumni from Muskegon Community College where I graduated with my associates and I also received my diploma from Mona Shores High School. My passion has almost always been soccer, however, the older that I become the more important I realize it is to have multiple drives in life. I’ve had 5 jobs starting from the time I turned 17 and none of them landed me in a position I could see myself staying in for the long haul. I hope you enjoy my site and the posts that come with it. Welcome to “eating elephants”!
